Project Objectives (Vision & Mission)

  1. Expand and share our knowledge/ expertise with others

Sharing knowledge and inspiration is equally important in our professional spheres. It can foster vision in others and strengthen professional ties. When students share with others, it helps deepen own knowledge and engrains what that we know. New conversations and opportunities can arise just from that gesture, offering even more opportunities to grow. Students have your own unique set of skills, knowledge and experience that ways can use it to impact others’ lives. Sharing knowledge with colleagues is a great service gives us an opportunity to think about others and not just ourselves.

  1. Importance of social service

While participating in social services, the students have to complete their task. When they complete a whole task, they feel motivated. They think that they can help others very well. They feel motivated to manage a system of people. It also makes them feel that they are fit for all other works. It provides them with motivation.

  1. Gain social skills experience

Building good relationships with other people can greatly reduce stress and anxiety in your life. In fact, improving your social support is linked to better mental health in general, since having good friends can act as a “buffer” for feelings of anxiety and low mood. Communication skills are the key to developing and keeping friendships and to building a strong social support network. They also help you take care of your own needs, while being respectful of the needs of others.

Section I

As a conclusion, we have successfully managed to complete the “A Helping Hand” project. This project would not have been successful if the teachers at the centre were not willing to spare their time to discuss with us regarding the volunteering session. This project has indeed taught us valuable and countless lessons. To illustrate, we had to be prepared to step out of our comfort zone when it comes to handling students that have CP. In addition to that, this project has undoubtedly prepared us for the real world where we had to deal with people from outside, institutions and has effectively improved our communication skills.

We have also identified a few suggestions that is relevant for improvement if similar projects were to be carried out in the future. Among which are, ensuring the exact number of students that will be involved on the day of project. Other than that, most importantly for the FEA academic office to transfer the KHIND Starfish Foundation grant without having to wait until the end of the project. This way, our group members will not be burdened by having to put forth our own money first to help finance the project. This is extremely troublesome especially students that are not from a high income’s family.
