Final Report

This is a project collaborating with the Orphanages; the aim of this project is to encourage orphans to be more self aware and to be more confident in their daily life. The orphans will learn hands on crafting skills for their extra knowledge and for their needs in the future. This project will encourage the orphans to explore their creative side.

  • To educate the orphans some professional skills on arts and crafts.
  • To educate the orphans to manage time and to make use of their free time.
  • To educate them about art and culture.
  • To input knowledge of the fashion industry.
  • To educate them about costing and marketing.
  • To expose them to a more sociable environment/ to communicate more with strangers.

16 days of weekend workshop classes to be conducted by us, Saito Fashion Design students. They will be learning

  • Tie Dye : after dyeing the fabrics, they will be learning how to do scarfs, pouches, sling bags, small pouch bags.
  • Flower Crown : they will be learning and creating all sorts of sellable flower crown.
  • Hair Bands : They will explore their creativity in making hair bands.
  • Plush Toys : Various plush toys will be taught.
  • DIY Gel Clutch : A unique Gel liquid bag.

After the workshop, The orphans will be having a makeover session by the students. And they wil have their portrait taken for the exhibition.

On the 29th June 2014, we will be organizing a Art Market for the orphans to sell the products that they have made during the 7 day workshop. Along side will be an exhibition of awareness to the people of orphans around Malaysia.

  • Money received after products sold will be donated back to the orphanage
  • Orphans will have extra knowledge and skills

Conclusion

Due to the impact toward orphans, this project is a success for everyone.
The orphans feel happy when we are teaching them. This make me feel blessed and grateful to have appeared in their life to help them grow up.
