Section I

Our goals for this project is to enhance learning English in a fun way. Other than that, we want the students to feel happy to learn English by using folklore stories in the learning and teaching session.

On the last day of this project, there will be a theatre competition whereby the students from standard 1, 2 and 3 will be performing selected folklore stories. In order for us to raise funds, we use ticketing system where those who wants to watch the competition need to pay any amount of money to enter the hall. We managed to incur RM268 and we gave it to the school so that the teachers can use the money for the students to improve their English skills.

There were a total of 24 students and 6 lecturers involved in this program. There are total of 6 classes and each classes will be handled by 2 students. The others will be the helpers to those who needs help. For two weeks, the students learnt 4 different folklores stories such as The Hare and The Tortoise, Mousedeer and The Tiger, Mousedeer and The Crocodile and Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih. The teachers will tell the stories and there are exercises for the students to do. The barriers that we faced was, there were few students who could not read or write well. English language at the school also was weak and that make the process harder but we manage to finish the syllabus on time. The total of school students involved in this program is 149 students. Through this program we have thought the students to increase their confidence level. We also realized that there are students who managed to memorize all the script for the theatre very well. For the upcoming project, we will improve anything that can help the program to be better and productive for the students.

Section II

Our project can contribute happiness as it helps the students to feel more excited and fun to learn English. This project contributes short and long-term happiness. In term of shortterm, the students involve will feel happy to learn English with their friends and will not feel awkward to speak English with their friends. In term of long-term happiness, it will help them to feel that English is fun and help them to have a good mind-set that English is easy to learn.

Through this project it does change my mind about the world. There are so many things that we do not see through the social media and we need to explore it by ourselves. With this project, it made me realize that there are still school who has weak in English language. As the most important second language in our country, it is important for the students to practice in speaking, listening and writing in English. This is because in order for them to further studies or to get a better job they need to at least master simple English especially in communication.

“If we don’t take steps in changing the world, then who will?”

“ Learning English is not easy as it looks, but by learning it in a fun way it will be easy to learn”
