Section I

  1. This project has succeeded in exposing young generation with Serakal berzanji in culture Serkat district village through involvement directly with villagers and Serakal member
Project also succeeded unite village community with ceremony shave crown and score a goal between university and village cross agesocioeconomic level and educational background.
  2. ‘Berzanji’ tradition is at verge of extinction among the Malaysians especially the Muslim. The project is aimed to remind them and bring back the tradition to life again. The interaction between students and the community is also developed.
  3. There are some other fund-raising for this project to run. Those funds are from Tabung Amanah Pembangunan Akademik (TAPA) UiTM, UMLAND, the villager itself, Mr.Salleh and also from advisor for this programme.
  4.
    1. Yes. We have been facing budget constraints during the journey of this project. In order to cover the other cost, we get the budget from sponsors and also from our project’s advisor.
    2. There is no language or cultural barriers since majority participants of this program are Malays and Muslim which helps more in making this project successful and easy to handle.
    3. The program gets good response from the villagers, students and lecturers. The food served to the guests is adequate and suitable for everyone. The motivator arrives in a timely manner and there is no tentative clashing faced. Overall, the event run smoothly except for unpredictable heavy rain towards evening.
Therefore, there are some minor difficulties like the power supply provided for the projector was not enough. Student in-charged had to find a new power source for it and use longer extension wire. This happened during the project on its progress.

    4. Almost 200 and more people benefited from this program including villagers of Kampung Sungai Kuali and 38 students of UiTM whose take part in this event. In details, parents who registered their children for “cukur jambul”, public guests included those organizing this program as the project’s objective was met.
    1. For long-term effects, the culture of “berzanji” can be exposed to society and can be practiced to future generation. This is to avoid the culture of “berzanji” from being forgotten and to remain it as an Islamic art culture. As for the students, they shared the same impact plus improving their soft skill needed for the future i.e. social intercourse between every ages of society and to buff up problem-solving skill. This project had a fondness for forming sodalities. There is definitely a future for Serakal Berzanji Project since in a long term time, there would be upholstery to the tradition of berzanji nominated by youth in making Islamic Culture as one of the trend along with the increase of modern entertainment. The success in strengthen this tradition in the soul of adolescents will lead to Serakal Berzanji 2.0.

Section II

  1. The project will eventually bring happiness to all of us, students and community as ‘Barzanji’ is about the Muslim number one role model, our prophet, Rasulullah SAW.  Anyone who follow Him will find happiness in life and afterlife.

What did I get from this project is it change my perception of people. The community still trying to find and want to learn about tradition that contribute for self-satisfaction and inner peace. It has changed me to appreciate those traditions and culture.

  1. “Thank you to those involved in this project especially the project’s advisors and the team itself. This project is worthwhile for both parties and we needed more project of educating people in various scope especially in keeping the tradition up to street. As such, they are well placed to implement initiatives to reap the benefits of stronger, more resilient and productive communities.” – Nurqistina Izzati , student organizer.
