Eco-Soap
Environmental Protection
Cooking oil is one of essential things in our life. Everyday there will be a lot of used cooking oil produced by households and restaurants every day. Currently, there is around 220,000,000 litres of used cooking oil is being dispose into drains every year in Malaysia. Waste oils of households have been ignored by used oil collector who only source for the major grease generators such as restaurants. Pouring down the grease into the drains not only pollute the environment, but also cling the inside of the pipes and sewer system.Instead of throwing it away, why not we change into something valuable? We come with an idea to change used cooking oil into soap. However, it is a decorative soap because further research need to be conduct in order to ensure the safety of the soap to be use. This kind of idea can provide job opportunities to the community of Taboh Naning which is located near our university. Most of the villagers work as a farmer or run a small business at Taboh Naning. By creating this product, it will be an adding up for their income and having more cleaned environmental as well.

1) PURPOSE
The purpose of this paper is to seek budget and support from MyHarapan association for the proposed of sharing the knowledge on reprocess eco-soap from waste cooking oil.
2) BACKGROUND
-
- Enactus MICET is an organization base on entrepreneurship. Enactus itself means entrepreneurial action us. Enactus provide and teach student about business concepts to develop outreach projects that improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need.In the conjunction of Enactus Malaysia mission which want to help and give contribution to the community, we Enactus MICET want to conduct a project called EcoSoap Project. We have a vision that this project will give a big impact to the community in Kg Cherana Putih, Alor Gajah, Melaka which is located near to our campus.

4) JUSTIFICATION
-
- After discussion with Dr Suzanna, this project is actually very useful to be shared to the community. This project is actually her pHD research that she is willing to share this valuable knowledge with the community. Instead of preserving the environment, this project can be their side income since it is so simple that may be applied by everyone. The materials also are easy to find and need least cost.
- Madam Suzanna had listed the material used and the method on making the EcoSoap. Before sharingthe knowledge with the villagers of Kg Cherana Putih, we would like to try on making the EcoSoap. Therefore, we can understand clearly on the process before sharing the knowledge with the villagers. Since some of the material is quite dangerous, so safety prescription needs to be identified before sharing the knowledge with them. This is our planning on this project.
- Currently, we are in stage I where the EcoSoap will be made by ourself at BioLab before sharing the knowledge with the villagers. The methodology will be shown at Appendix 1. Below is our plan for this project.
5) DETAIL OF PROGRAMME
Currently, we are at phase I which the process of finding the easiest method to make the soap. Besides that, the pH of the soap need to be stabilize before being commercialize. Thus, it needs very appropriate method and precaution before it can be shared to the community. Phase II is being planned to be in August 2015.
6) PARTICIPANTS
All UniKL MICET students and staffs are invited to join this activity.
9) CONCLUSION
The approval from MyHarapan association is hereby sought for the proposed of sharing the knowledge on reprocess waste cooking oil to EcoSoap programme in August 2015. Hopefully this project is expected to achieve the entire objective of implementing this technology. We hoped this project will be conducted successfully with the support of all parties that involved, directly and indirectly to the success sod this project.
