• The Beyond Beauty project aims to bring happiness, care and support to elderly people in the community by providing free beauty services and personal care. The project also aims to improve the students soft skills from Cosmetology Course and their well-being to show our appreciation for them by donating foods and essential items to meet their daily needs. 
• Yes, contributions and fundraising efforts helped support the Beyond Beauty project. Donations from individuals, sponsors and community members has been used to purchase food, daily necessities and other essential items for the elderly.
• The Beyond Beauty project was organised by Cosmetology students from Keningau Vocational College through a community service visit to a senior citizen residence. The students applied their practical skills by providing services such as massage, haircuts, and nail care to help the elderly feel more comfortable, refreshed and confident.The activities were carried out through direct interaction with the residents, allowing students to practise their technical skills while developing communication, teamwork, patience, and empathy. Beyond providing beauty services, the visit created opportunities for companionship and meaningful interaction between the students and the elderly. 
• One of the possible challenges faced during the project was managing the budget to ensure that there were enough funds to cover all the beauty supplies, food and essential items. Most beauty supplies had to be sourced from suppliers outside Keningau, as they were not readily available locally, which required careful planning and coordination. Another challenge was coordinating the team since we are all girls class, arranging transportation and ensuring that all activities ran smoothly.
• There’s an initial gap of communication as some of the senior citizens especially the males were reluctant to be given any treatment although they gradually became warmer to our presence and eventually requested for some massages and manicures. A language barrier was another challenge, as most of the elderly residents primarily spoke mandarin, while some students were not fluent in the language. 
• One of the things that worked well was the combination of free beauty services and donations, as it allowed the team to support the elderly in both personal care and daily necessities. The activities also encouraged teamwork, compassion and meaningful interactions between us and the elderly.
• The Beyond Beauty project benefited the old folks in the community, particularly those who needed assistance with personal care and daily necessities. The beneficiaries received free beauty services, food and essential item, which helped improve their comfort and well-being. This project also benefited us as Cosmetology students by developing our communication and soft skills, teamwork, empathy and sense of social responsibility.
• This project has the potential to create a lasting positive impact by promoting kindness, respect and care for the elderly people in the community. Providing free beauty services and essential donations can help their well-being while making them feel valued and appreciated. The project can be sustained by organising regular visits, collaborating with local organisations and involving more volunteers. In the future, Beyond Beauty could expand its services to reach more elderly people and include additional activities such as basic grooming education, wellness activities and social engagement programmes.

In the long term, Beyond Beauty aims to create a more caring, inclusive, and compassionate community. By continuing community service activities and encouraging more students to participate, we hope to build lasting connections with the elderly and promote a culture of kindness and respect. The project also allows us to develop practical beauty therapy skills, communication, teamwork, and empathy. Most importantly, it teaches us that happiness is not only about what we receive, but also about what we give to others.
• Yes, Beyond Beauty has changed the way I see the world. Before participating in this project, I mainly viewed beauty therapy as a skill focused on improving a person's appearance and providing professional treatments. However, through our interactions with the elderly, I discovered that beauty therapy can also be a meaningful way to show love, care, and respect. A simple haircut, a relaxing massage, or well-groomed nails may seem like small things, but they can make someone feel appreciated and cared for. This experience has taught me to look beyond people's appearances and recognise their emotional needs, life experiences, and the importance of human connection. I have become more aware of the challenges faced by elderly people, including loneliness and the need for companionship. Beyond Beauty has helped me become more patient, compassionate, and grateful for the opportunity to serve others. It has also strengthened my belief that young people can make a positive difference in society. I have learned that even small acts of kindness can create meaningful change when they come from a sincere heart.
