Heart to Heart

Helping the Underprivileged Community

Our plan is to organize a charity program to the community called Heart to Heart. Purpose of our project is to keep students active in helping the local community to be better than before. By doing this activity, it can indirectly foster a spirit of cooperation and love among the members of our club. Our focuses are to help orphanages live in better and more active conditions, and foster cooperativeness between outside organizations and Merge Club.  The Merge Committee, UMK’s Library Management Team, and Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan will work together to make this project successful. The project will take place at Yayasan Anak- Anak Yatim Kelantan (YAATIM). Our targets are Orphanages. On the day of the implementation, our team will go to the orphanage to carry out the planned activities. We will need supplies for mural, for cleaning the area, gifts for the homes. We target to have 19 items listed in the budget section below. It is very important for us to get this sponsorship because it can be used to reduce the costs of the activities and will help our club achieve its goals. The lack of costs has been something that worries us and we desperately need this sponsor to build a complete facility for our targeted communities. Additionally, as we are new in this kind of project, it will be very beneficial for us to get guides from you in order to build a strong project foundation. It will definitely help us grow as a more knowledgeable individual about how the community project works and its process.

Section I

The goal of this project is to further strengthen the bonds between MERGE (UMK) Club students with orphans and get to know each other better, aiming to foster love and positive values in students and orphans. We also try to build the spirit of orphans for their better futures.

There are a handful of contributors who contribute to the progress of this project financially and energetically. They are lecturers, faculty, and some external contributors.

Basically, the plan of this project is to spend time with the orphan and play some games to make them happy and fill their free time during the weekend. But we also provide cleaning work, building a mini library, and painting a mural. All of those plans going well and seems like the orphanage management loves our contribution to their place and to the students.

There are some difficulties that we've faced before and during the program but we managed to handle them. We had to change the date several times due to transportation problems and some other problems. we have no problems with the budget because Student Affairs provide the budget for our food while we were there.

As long as we held the project, there was no language or cultural barrier because we because the program participants consist of all Malay races and we speak the entire Malay language.

Everything that we planned worked well despite facing problems but not affecting the progress of the program. we had to stay until midnight to finish the mural design and painting but our team is willing to do that.

All of the students at the orphanage benefited from our project consisting of 98 students there. We put together a game that can strengthen the relationship between them and our team and can increase their confidence in the future.

The long-term effect of this project is to increase the confidence of our team in carrying out activities in the community. We hope that we can do a project like this to contribute to the community in the future.

Section II

Heart to heart gives great joy to the orphan community in Yaatim Kelantan with all the activities that have been done with them. we have indeed planned activities that can increase self-identity, confidence, and cooperation between them. overall, the Yaatim management also very much agrees and welcomes the arrival and the program that we have run with their students. we hope that the students will remember and use their experience with us in the future.

In the long term, we can also remember every activity carried out with orphan students there. our program can also be used as an example to the new students who will replace us in the faculty to run a program that can create joy for all participants.

Throughout this program, our team did not place high hopes due to a lack of experience. however, after seeing the joy in the eyes of the orphans, we felt very happy and more eager to finish the program and spend time with the students. we have all changed our perception that every community needs to spend time together to get to know each other more deeply.

Aiman Radzuan:

“Every joy must be shared to create a peaceful world”

Raihanah:

“Every sacrifice must come with sweet success.”

Akashah:

“I am happy when I see others happy for my actions even in extreme hardship.”

Nabilah
“Every opportunity should be used as best as possible.”
